Nine children from three families are orphaned or were abandoned by their parents. In each family an older sister or cousin - herself only around 22 - cares for the children. There is barely enough food; school fees, books and uniforms are out of reach, while the new school term has already started. School fees therefore come first. In addition, the girls receive reusable menstrual kits, made locally in Kenya, so they no longer miss school days.

Sussan cares alone for her 9-year-old daughter Jannie, who suffers from sickle cell disease. Sussan herself was diagnosed with DVT in January. Medical costs forced her to close her small clothing business. She asks for help to survive and start over.
34 years old • Teachers College • Nakuru, Kenya
Liz (Elizabeth Owando) is training to become a teacher in Nakuru and is in her final year of studies. Her mother, her primary source of support, has arthritis and needs ongoing care, which places heavy financial and emotional strain on the family. With support Liz can focus on her studies and complete her education.

Both parents are gone. Sofi and Samira also rescued Zainab (7) from the streets. Thanks to the foundation they now attend school. € 40 per week is the minimum to keep them fed. Sofi wants to become a doctor, Samira a teacher.

Millions of girls miss an average of 4 school days per month due to lack of menstrual products. With € 20 you give one girl dignified protection for a whole year. Our volunteer travels to Africa to help 15 young women.
